Knowing when to replace your car’s tyres
One of the most important components of your car is the tyres. Their main purpose is to provide traction between the vehicle and the road while acting as a flexible cushion that absorbs shock. Since tyres perform such important roles and they have a limited lifespan, it is in every driver’s interest to know when they should be replaced to safeguard his personal safety.

Lookout for tread wear indicators
tread wear indicators All tyres come with tread wear indicators or bars. These indicators are bridges that run perpendicular to the tread and are formed between the treads which sit at least 1.6mm above the bottom of the grooves. After prolonged usage, these indicators become flushed with the tread, signaling the end-of-life of the tyres.

Check for uneven wear and tear
Uneven wear and tear is usually caused by a wheel alignment issue. It is advised to inspect the inner and outer walls of the tyres occasionally to check for such occurrence. If the steel belt of the tyre is exposed, the tyre should be replaced immediately. Since we are on this topic, it is good to rotate the front and back tyres every 10,000km to prolong their lifespan as it evens out the wear and tear on all four pieces of rubber.

Replace your tyres every 40,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first
Although the average mileage of a tyre depends on factors such as driving habits, weather conditions, materials etc, a good rule of thumb is to replace the tyres about every 40,000 miles (64,000 km). Even if you are a low mileage driver, the rubber material undergoes chemical changes which affect its performance over time. Therefore, any tyre older than 5 years old should be replaced.

I hope that the above tips will are useful. Drive safely!
